AMM FIRST SERVICES LTD (AMMFS) was established for Mike Dumler to provide advice, guidance and/or services to unions, non-profit agencies, and NGO’s after his formal retirement from the the Canadian Union of Public Employees on June 30, 2009. Mike Dumler is the principal staff of AMMFS and reports to a board of directors made up of his three adult children, Aaron, Mathew and Michelle.
Prior to his retirement Mike Dumler was a national staff representative for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). His last assignment was Legislative Coordinator for CUPE in British Columbia. Prior to that Mike served as the Strong Communities campaign organizer, and has also held CUPE Staff positions as University sector coordinator and executive assistant to the National president.
Mike’s experience includes negotiations, organizing, and contract administration, including representing local unions and workers in the college, university, school board, hospital and municipal sectors at arbitration and labour board hearings. He also has extensive experience teaching union courses, and dealing with union constitution and bylaw issues including internal union trials, mergers, and transfers of Jurisdiction.
Mike has participated in and presented on labour relations in a number of venues. These include; the Conference Board of Canada, Western Cities Municipal Labour Relations Conference and Lancaster House conferences. He has also served on the boards of several non-profit societies and was a member of the executive and board of the Canadian Centre of Policy Alternatives.
